Engineering Campus Tours
For students considering engineering as a possible major, the Engineering Council offers a tour of the engineering campus and information session Monday through Friday. The tour, which lasts about one hour, departs from the Campus Visitors Center at 2:00 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters and at 12:00 p.m. during the summer sessions. For tours during holiday breaks or other times, call 217/333-2280.

Following the tour, an informal question and answer session is held at 3:00 p.m. in Room 206 Engineering Hall with a dean or academic advisor from the College of Engineering. If you have any questions regarding the engineering tour or information session, you are welcome to contact the College of Engineering, 217/333-2280.

To make the most of your visit to campus, check the websites or contact the sponsors for dates, reservations, maps, and other details of tours and activities.

Engineering Open House
For 86 years, this showcase event has attracted thousands of visitors each March to experience a myriad of engineering marvels and mysteries in this ever-changing world.

Orange and Blue Days
Orange and Blue Days are full day programs for high school juniors on selected Fridays during the spring and fall semesters. Beginning at 9:30 a.m., each day includes an admissions media presentation, housing presentation, concurrent sessions on financial aid, Mom's and Dad's Association, and a students-only question and answer session. During the afternoon a college meeting and campus tour are scheduled. Reservations are required.

Engineering Days
During Engineering Days (formerly Engineering Majors Fair) high school students spend the day on campus attending classes, visiting labs, touring the engineering campus, and talking to current engineering students. For additional information, call 217/244-3828, or email.

Materials Science and Engineering Day
The Materials Science and Engineering Department invites high school seniors to spend a day touring laboratories, watching materials demonstrations, and meeting current students and professors. Sunday, October 7, will be the next Materials Science and Engineering Day.

National Society of Black Engineers & Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
High school students from Illinois have the opportunity to visit campus in the fall and spring. Students attend classes, tour laboratories and participate in hands-on workshops, attend seminars on financial aid and admissions, and have the opportunity to interact with current students.

Physics Day
High school students may attend Physics Day, usually scheduled in November, to learn more about physics through lectures, tours of research laboratories, and informal interactions with faculty and students.

Society of Women Engineers Little Sisters' Weekend
Each spring, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) invites female high school students who have been admitted to the College of Engineering to spend a weekend on campus to learn more about the university and engineering. Each prospective student is assigned a big sister (a current female engineering student) and will attend classes and special events. The SWE weekend is typically the first weekend in April.

Student Introduction to Engineering (SITE)
Engineering Council sponsors this weekend event each February for prospective engineering students to attend classes, meet with current students, and explore the College of Engineering at Illinois.

Women in Engineering Days
Young women--prospective high school juniors and seniors--attend classes, meet current engineering students, and stay overnight in the Women in Math, Science, and Engineering (WIMSE) living learning community. Women in Engineering Days are offered the first Friday of most months and a few other dates. For further information, contact the Women in Engineering program at wie@uiuc.edu, or 217/244-3517.

WYSE Academic Challenge
The Academic Challenge is a competitive series of tests created and administered by Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering and offered to high school students in Illinois and Missouri. The tests are now offered by more than 50 community colleges and universities and are designed to present a challenge to the brightest students.
