Diversity programs

The College of Engineering has a number of programs and support activities designed to increase the number of students from underrepresented groups in engineering. The administration understands the engineering profession's need to increase its representation of African Americans, Native Americans, Latino/as, women of all ethnicities, people with disabilities, and low income individuals.

For more than 30 years, MEP has helped Engineering at Illinois reflect the diversity of American society.

WIE is dedicated to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for women students in the College of Engineering.

For Graduate Students

Multi-Cultural Engineering Recruitment for Graduate Education (MERGE) Program
MERGE brings promising graduate school prospects from diverse cultures to the Illinois campus for an in-depth view of the outstanding programs and facilities available for graduate study.

Support for Under-Represented Groups in Engineering (SURGE) Fellowship Program
Fellowships and assistantships which support individuals from underrepresented groups in engineering doctoral programs.
