The advising system in the College of Engineering is designed to assist the undergraduate in a number of ways--advance enrollment procedures, course selection, and career options. In addition to the information covered below, your advisor should be viewed as a career information resource.
You are required to meet with your departmental faculty advisor and least once per semester. Some advisors will ask that you make an appointment to discuss your career options, but, in general, they are happy to discuss this subject with any student who expresses an interest.
If your advisor is needed and not available, the chief advisor for the department should be consulted. Each department has a chief advisor, shown on the Advisor Information page, who can serve as an advisor in emergency situations.
