Who Are We?
*Engineering Advocates is a dynamic engineering education outreach program for students in elementary, middle, and high school. The program began in 1997 and the purposes of the program include:
  1. To show that engineering is fun and exciting
  2. Allow students to interact with an engineering student
  3. Encourage students to take higher level math and science classes as they progress through school
  4. Tell students about UIUC.

*Students in the College of Engineering volunteer to serve as Engineering Advocates. At the elementary and middle school levels, Engineering Advocates present hands-on activities. At the high school level, Advocates make a PowerPoint presentation. Engineering students are trained as presenters and use a PowerPoint presentation and hands-on materials to accomplish the goals of the program. Approximately 3000 students are contacted each year.

Why Join Engineering Advocates?
*Make a difference in the life of a high school or middle school student -- open their minds up to engineering!

*Make friends with other fun, energetic people.

Why Request a Presentation?
High school students give more credibility to the Engineering Advocates Presenters than they would give to a teacher who is removed from the college experience!
