SOUTH KOREA

PROGRAM: Six-Week Program; Beginning Late June

POHANG UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (POSTECH)   http://www.postech.ac.kr/

Founded in 1986, POSTECH has come to be named the top university in science and technology in Asia.  In January of 1999, the Pohang Technopark Foundation was established which serves to provide the infrastructure for aiding in the transfer of technology between academia and industry.

Pohang, a city of 520,000 citizens is a beautiful, pleasant city and the first on the Korean peninsula to greet the morning sun.  Located between the mountains and the East Sea, it is the perfect year-round environment for sports and outdoor activities.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The summer program comprises two types of programs students can choose between: the summer research project only, or the research project along with participation as a group leader in POSTECH's English Only Dormitory Program (PENDP).

The PENDP Program is a program designed to boost Korean students confidence and communicative skills in English.  Students who participate in the PENDP portion of the program are required to use English at all ties while they are staying in their dorm and have to attend several activities led by group leaders.  Students participating in the PENDP program may also receive a stipend for their participation.

Students may also choose to extend this program (called the Internship + Program) into the fall semester.
