Sevilla - Why this City?
Sevilla is sun-soaked city rich in culture at the center of the Guadalquivir River Valley. Sevilla is the third largest city in Spain, close in size to Bilbao. Because it has been ruled by both Christians and Moores at different time periods it has a rich culture with evidence of both empires. For example, the famous Giralda (pictured) was orginally constructed by the Moors, modified several times, then after the Christians took over it was converted into a more Gothic tower in the 1400's. Don't be confused because Sevilla is not only the name of the city, it is also the name of the province that contains it.
