typical schedule. we had classes four days a week (mon-thurs) and typically a half-day site visit to a power plant or energy company on fridays. mornings started with italian language class for an hour, followed by nuclear engineering class. we took a break for lunch, and would all head to the mensa together. afterward was nuclear engineering again, and we would usually get done with the day in the mid-afternoon.

culture class was once a week in the afternoon, where we learned about the cities we would be taking weekend trips to. our schedule varied a bit week to week because our visit corresponded with an italian national holiday on june 2nd. we had class for a bit longer each day in order to have a 5-day break in the middle of our 4 weeks. this was nice because we had time to make a longer trip to both rome and naples, and really absorb everything possible in that short amount of time.

classes. didn't have a difficult workload and were generally enjoyable. it helped a lot to take language while we were there, because you could immediately apply things you had just learned to daily conversation. culture was also helpful, because i don't think any of us knew a great deal of history about italy before our trip. it was also interesting to see the differences in energy usage between the u.s. and europe in context. we discussed these differences in npre class and were able to draw examples from what we'd seen around us.
