The Burren
South of Galway, The Burren is an area made up of a lot of limestone rock, hills, and the occasional tourist attraction. While the scenery is beautiful, the five-hour bus tour wasn't so fantastic. Along with 50 stinky Europeans, we saw the town of Ballyvaughn, the Cliffs of Moher, and Ailwee Cave.

First stop: Ballyvaughn. We saw was the inside of Monk's Pub and this little pier across the street.

The Cliffs of Moher rise over 600 feet above the water. Caroline and I were feeling risky and stepped over the fence to get the above photo. Below, Caroline illustrates our perilous jaunt.

Here, the red elf and I represent the Midwest (even though she's from New York), just to make sure everyone knows we're American.

The view from the parking lot in front of Ailwee Cave was better than the attraction itself. The Burren is known for its flowers, and supposedly perfumeries dot the region. However, the bus didn't stop at any, so we missed out.

Finally, Katie is so enthralled by the beautiful scenery, she can't help but fall asleep on the bus home.
