While at HIT we took two classes, language and culture. Both were valuable classes and we learned a lot during our brief time there. Language would typically meet several times a day and culture would meet every other day or so. In addition to the classes we also were split into small groups and worked with a professor in his lab. The lab topics varied greatly and we were able to pick a group that interested us or was otherwise related to our major. For example, in my lab we isolated novel biopeptides from a certain sea worm.
The faculty and volunteers were simply amazing. I honestly doubt that any of the other programs have a group of people this dedicated. There were about thirty volunteer students to the twelve of us from Illinois, and they quickly became close friends. Also the faculty went out of their way to make sure that everything was perfect for us.
