Initially I thought the Teahouse and Opera would be really boring (the sound of sitting through an Opera puts me to sleep). However, the trip turned out to be better than I thought. We were seated at a traditional tea table and were served tea and some snacks. All the waitresses dressed up in traditional Chinese outfits too. The show started off with some instrumental piece, then moved on to perform a scene from the famous Monkey King story. There was also a magician and a contortionist too.
Geoff is receiving tea from the waitress.
A musical performance started off the evening. Most of
the instruments used by the musicians are pretty native to China. I only
recognized one instrument, the er hu, which is kinda like a small, 2 string
violin that you rest on your lap to play.
