Andrew Muehlfeld, Chairman
I am a senior studying electrical engineering with a minor in computer science. During my first two years on campus, I played tenors in the Marching Illini. Despite my love for Illinois, I spent a semester studying in Spain and later created and led a winter study-abroad program for engineering students in Taiwan and Hong Kong. After that I took a semester off to work in circuit design for Intel in Boston. While away, I stayed involved with ESAA by authoring our constitution. Now that I am back on campus for the year, I hope to help establish our organization's role in the College of Engineering during its youth, and I hope to help Ambassadors develop leadership and professionalism skills, all while strengthening our student-alumni community.
Jason Berner, Director of Communications
I am a junior in computer engineering at Illinois. I am currently the Director of Communications for ESAA and I am involved in Illini Pride and Orange Krush. In the past, I was an active member on the corporate committee for Engineering Freshmen Council. I am originally from the small town of Sullivan, Illinois which is about an hour southwest of Champaign. I really enjoyed growing up in a small town and spent this past summer back in Sullivan working with my dad and his handyman business. After one successful year on the Board of Directors, I look forward to working with the other members of ESAA as we strive to continue our growth and better alumni relations within the College of Engineering .
Kanishka Kumar, Director of External Communications
I am an international student and a sophomore in electrical engineering. I have lived in India, and then, in Dubai. As a freshman, I held the position of Service Chair on Engineering Freshman Committee, and was Co-Director of On-Campus Events with ESAA. As Director of External Relations, I will work to strengthen the relationship between Ambassadors and the College of Engineering's department alumni coordinators.
Janis Lee, Co-Director of Internal Relations
I am a junior in computer engineering with a minor in technology and management. Through the leadership position in ESAA and other student organizations, I hope to offer insight and expand ESAA, Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Eta Kappa Nu, and Women in Engineering. Since the Summer of 2005, I have interned at Argonne National Laboratory and General Electric's Information and Management Leadership Program, and studied abroad at Pohang University in South Korea. As the Co-Director of Internal Affairs, I hope to further enhance the leadership, communication, and professional skills within the students and enable the improvement of student-alumni relations.
Courtney Skinner, Co–Director of Internal Relations
I am a senior in materials science and engineering. I work with Janis Lee to create events to help develop the Ambassadors. I am active in the Undergraduate Materials Organization and the National Society of Black Engineers as well as doing research on campus. I look forward to working with all the Ambassadors to make their experience as fun and beneficial as it can be.
Joleen Su, Director of Off-Campus Events
I am a freshman in bioengineering, with a focus of biomolecular engineering, and I am working on a minor in chemistry. I am also an active member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, and work as a lab assistant at the Institute for Genomic Biology. I am currently the Director of Off-Campus Events, and I am excited in taking a more active role in ESAA. I am looking forward to helping develop student-alumni bonds, and hope to establish a stronger base for ESAA events in the Chicago area.
Beth Richter, Student Advisor
I am a junior in civil engineering and am a co-founder and previous co-chairman of ESAA. This past summer, I was an intern in the Transportation Department of Burns & McDonnell's St. Louis Office. On campus, I am also a member of Engineering Initiatives and I am an Engineering Learning Assistant. These organizations have allowed me to work with a number of people within the College of Engineering, students and administrators alike. Next semester, I plan to study in Bilbao, Spain, and pursue an international minor. I look forward to working with the board to continue developing student-alumni relations within the College of Engineering.
