Upcoming Events in Fall 2008

Prepare early for upcoming fall recruiting events! Because the semester begins on a Monday rather than a Wednesday next year, there is less time between the start of classes and the career fairs. To help you prepare, ECS will be offering a number of opportunities for resume reviews and other counseling services beginning the first day of class:

  • August 25-29 (first week of classes): ECS will offer walk-in resume reviews and other counseling services each afternoon between 1:30 and 4:00 pm in 3270 Digital Computer Lab.
  • Wednesday, September 3: ECS Fall Career Fair, 10am-4pm, located at the iHotel & Conference Center, the new conference center in the Research Park, 1800 S. First (there will be free parking and the fair is accessible by the MTD 23 Shuttle route). View the participating companies.
  • Friday, September 5: Consulting Career Forum (see more information in the next section), 9am-2pm, Alice Campbell Alumni Center - Advance registration is required and there is a $20 registration fee; register at Business Career Services in 215A David Kinley Hall on Gregory Drive between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. beginning Monday, August 25th through Friday, August 29th or whenever registration fills
  • September 8-10: Engineering Expo career fair, sponsored by Engineering Council; for more information, visit the Engineering Expo site
  • September 15-November 14: ECS on-campus recruiting season

2008 Consulting Career Forum

If you are interested in a career in consulting or in learning more about the industry, plan to attend the 2008 Consulting Career Forum! More than 20 consulting firms will participate in this event, which includes a panel on recruiting tips, a case interview demonstration by McKinsey, a Meet the Firms session (a consulting-specific career fair), and a number of opportunities to network with professionals currently working in the consulting industry. The Consulting Forum will be held on Friday, September 5th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Advance registration is required, and there is a registration fee of $20. Registration takes place at 215A David Kinley Hall beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 25th through 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 29th or whenever registration is filled. The Consulting Career Forum is hosted by Engineering Career Services and Business Career Services.

 

Corporate Internships and Careers in the Research Park 2008

Over 30 companies participated in the 2008 Research Park career fair, ranging from innovative start-ups to large, established corporations. Students attended to learn more about summer and part-time semester internships as well as full-time positions. The event began with a brief program, followed by a career fair. Some companies provided tours between 6:30 and 7:30 pm.
