^ Bus Connection Networks
M. D. Mickunas*
University of Illinois

Researchers are investigating the properties of various bus connection networks (viewed as generalized incidence systems, such as projective planes). The mathematical properties of such networks suggest some intriguing new techniques for performing both computation and communication. This investigation centers on four topics: discovery of simple, expandable, and inexpensive interconnection strategies that can be applied to large networks (having possibly thousands of nodes); specification of simple, adaptable message routing schemes which can be implemented on those networks; network survivability under partial degradation; and discovery of practical applications of such networks.
