The Xerox Foundation established the Xerox Awards for Faculty Research to honor faculty members annually for outstanding research in two categories: to assistant professors based on one (1) year of research accomplishments; and to associate professors based on five (5) years of research accomplishments.

Nominations sent to the Office of the Dean, 306 Engineering Hall, MC-266; should include a standard nomination cover page, one (1) copy of nomination in letter form, 1-2 pages of nominee's qualifications and accomplishments. All nominations must include a letter of support from the department or unit head.Assistant professors: nomination based on research accomplishments and papers published or scheduled to be published during the previous academic year.
Associate professors: nomination based on research and accomplishments and papers published or scheduled to be published during the past five (5) years.

Three (3; number may vary) from each category selected by dean's review committee.Publication

Recipients are informed by letter from dean, drafted by associate dean for academic programs, with copies to the following:
- department head
- nominator
- editor in the Engineering Communications Office for convocation booklet publication
- associate dean for academic programs for convocation program
- associate deans for external and admin. affairs
- chairman, awards committee
Letter is written to Xerox by the dean, drafted by the associate dean for academic programs, commenting on awardees and enclosing a copy of the convocation booklet.
Logistics
February
The editor in the Engineering Communications Office prepares the college awards convocation booklet, which will carry photo and biosketch of all recipients. Recipients are presented their awards at the convocation and invited by associate dean for undergraduate affairs to awards luncheon.
