Complete Rules and Lists at: http://www.courses.uiuc.edu/gened/
Campus General Education courses MUST be taken for a letter grade.

2. Advanced Composition (Composition II) -- SEE LIST.
- Many Soc. Sci. and Hum. courses are Advanced Composition, too!
- Required of almost everyone, except a few who started college before Fall 1991.
- Not all sections of a course count. Check the online class schedule.
- May not be taken elsewhere. Must be taken for a grade.
3,4. Social and Behavioral Sciences. Humanities and the Arts -- SEE LIST.
- Required ONLY if you started college anywhere on or after Fall 1994.
- 6 hours Soc&Beh.Sci; 6 hours Hum&Arts
- Every course on the list is also on the College List.
- Many courses count as Advanced Composition, too!
5,6. Western Culture. Non-Western or American Minority Culture -- SEE LIST
- Required ONLY if you started college anywhere on or after Fall 1995
- 1 course Western; 1 course Non-Western (or 2 Comparative Studies courses)
- Most courses are also on the Soc&Beh.Sci. or the Hum&Arts lists.
7. Foreign Language - Complete a third level college foreign language course.
- Required beginning with Freshmen entering Fall 2000 and transfers entering Fall 2002 who began college studies anywhere starting in Fall 2000 or later. Three years of a single high school language will meet the requirement.
- Foreign language may be counted as College Humanities, but not Campus Hum&Arts. You must go to 206 Engr. Hall to have your language credit verified.
8,9. Natural Sciences and Technology and Quantitative Reasoning.
- Your required courses meet these requirements many times over.
Some helpful hints:
- Make your courses count twice (or even three times!) Example: History 308 counts as Campus Humanities, College Humanities, Campus Western, and Advanced Composition.
- Many Illinois community colleges have courses that will satisfy Campus General Education credit. See the web site: http://www.oar.uiuc.edu/prospective/transfer/which.html
- If you think you should have Gen Ed credit and don't, see the Deans in 206 Engr. Hall
