Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam (formerly the EIT)

The first step to become certified as a Professional Engineer (PE) is to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, formerly known as the EIT. This exam is offered twice a year at the University of Illinois, in October and April. Registration for fall exam is typically in mid-September while registration for the spring exam falls around February. Note:To register for the FE exam through Continental Testing, you must be within one calendar year of graduation and be a current undergraduate student at UIUC. Others need to contact the Illinois Department of Regulation to register for the exam.

Students that need special accomodations for the exam should obtain a request form from Disability Resources and Educational Services (call testing at 217/333-4604, or email testing@disability.uiuc.edu). This request form needs to be returned to Continental Testing, P.O. Box 100, LaGrange, IL 60525 before the last day of registration.
