Tutoring Information

There are a number of resources available around campus from which to receive help with your coursework. All professors are required to host office hours as are teaching assistants. Additionally, there are a number of entities that provide free tutoring service, which can be very helpful. Most of the tutoring is provided by fellow students (third- and fourth-year students and graduate students).

Math Courses
The Department of Mathematics has free tutoring available. Visit the tutoring webpage for more information about their services, as well as other tutoring services available on- and off-campus.

Chemistry Courses

Tutoring Available in the Residence Hall Libraries
Tutoring is available within the University Residence Hall Libraries for students living in the halls. Tutors may be used by all hall residents.  No appointment is necessary!  Just stop by the library when the tutor is scheduled to visit and he or she will be happy to help. Tau Beta Pi, Engineering Honor Society
The Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi, conducts free tutoring for students who would like additional assistance with their classes. For more information, please contact Tau Beta Pi .

Association for Computing Machinery, Student Chapter
ACM has renewed its commitment to helping students succeed by offering tutoring for various courses in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, and math. To that end, they have created a website that makes it easier for students to find an ACM member willing to provide assistance.

Sigma Gamma Tau, Honor Society for Aerospace Engineering
Sigma Gamma Tau organizes "by-request" tutoring in all undergraduate AE courses, engineering software, programming languages, areas of mathematics, and technical writing. For more information, contact Sigma Gamma Tau .

Eta Kappa Nu, Honor Society for Electrical and Computer Engineering
Eta Kappa Nu also provides free tutoring. Assistance is available for most ECE classes, in addition to the core engineering classes. For more information, contact Eta Kappa Nu .

Office of Minority Student Affairs (OMSA)
The Office of Minority Student Affairs provides a number of academic services which include tutoring for more than 160 courses, review sessions, and study skills development. For more information visit the OMSA website .

The Counseling Center
It is not uncommon for even the highest achieving students to need to adjust to college life, new stressors, and a new style of studying and time management. The Counseling Center has many options for students needing help adjusting to life at college. The staff at the Counseling Center is trained to help students with academic, relational, and emotional concerns. There are many services available to students including but not limited to study skills, time management, family difficulties, and first generation student issues. Private Tutors
Many students are willing to tutor others for a small fee. Look for signs posted in buildings where classes are located to find a tutor for a specific class. Some departments will keep a list of student willing to tutor.

Peer Advising
There are numerous engineering departments and organizations that provide peer advising and mentoring programs. Participation in such programs is a great opportunity to receive advice from other students in your major who have had similar questions to those which you might have. Get the inside scoop regarding courses, an appropriate course load, professors, and career opportunities. You may even make a friend.
